About David and Dorothy Kemper
In 2004, David W. and Dorothy A. “Dotty” Kemper made a gift to the university with James M. Kemper Jr., David’s father, and the William T. Kemper Foundation to advance the study and appreciation of art. In 2006, the university named its new museum building in memory of David’s mother, Mildred Lane Kemper.
A series of subsequent gifts from the family and the foundation have helped the museum, part of the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, build upon its reputation as one of the nation’s leading university art collections. They provided funds to endow the museum’s directorship and acquire notable artwork.
