2022 Fitzgibbon Charrette
2022-03-16 • Sam Fox School
Twenty-seven Sam Fox School juniors and seniors in architecture participated in the annual Fitzgibbon Charrette—which centers on a one-day sketch problem—on February 26.
This year’s charrette was moderated by Dwayne Oyler and Jenny Wu, founders of the experimental architecture and design firm Oyler Wu Collaborative as well as members of the design faculty at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). This year’s prompt asked teams of three to four students to create “a puzzling architectural assembly” using a combination of architectural and industrial parts, taken from two to three previous architectural studio projects, as well as the assigned tool model. Deliverables included an axonometric rendering of the overall architectural assembly, as well as a set of instructions that demonstrated the assemblies sequence for the architectural elements.
