Several Sam Fox School members named in Communication Arts 2022 Illustration Shortlist
Several members of the Sam Fox School community have been named to the Communication Arts 2022 Illustration Shortlist. They include faculty members Edward Kinsella III, Shreyas R Krishnan, and Francesco Zorzi (Florence program), and alumni Shannon Levin (BFA17) and Sam Washburn (BFA09).
Acayo Laker book reviewed in The Daily Heller
The Black Experience in Design: Identity Expression & Reflection (Allworth Press/School of Visual Arts, 2022), a new book co-authored and edited by assistant professor Penina Acayo Laker, received a glowing review in The Daily Heller, which says the book “should be read by every designer, design student, and educator.”
Valentine's picture book featured in Rise: A Feminist Book Project's list
Lecturer Madeline Valentine‘s (MFA-IVC21) picture book, More than Fluff (Knopf Books for Young Readers, 2021), was included on the 2022 Booklist from Rise: A Feminist Book Project’s list, which celebrates books that encourage young readers to express their identities, to live their truth unapologetically, and to rise up.
Wassenaar solo exhibition at Missouri Southern State University
‘Wayfinding II’ a solo exhibition by associate professor Cheryl Wassenaar at Spiva Gallery, Missouri Southern State University opens on February 14 with an artist talk on February 17 6p via Zoom. Work will be on view through March 9.
Olynyk moderates NYC LASER talk

Ćosić film screening at multiple venues includes live performance of Stark composition
Screening of Fire Ecologies by Zlatko Ćosić with a live performance of Christopher Stark’s composition by Unheard-of Ensemble will be happening at multiple venues from February 17-22 including Texas State University (San Marcos), Agarita Collaboration (San Antonio), and San Antonio College.
