Jess T. Dugan discusses #BriefButSpectacular on PBS NewsHour
Dugan featured on PBS NewsHour
Jess T. Dugan, the 2020-21 Henry L. and Natalie E. Freund Teaching Fellow, shared their #BriefButSpectacular take on representation and the power of portraiture on the PBS NewsHour. The piece was filmed on site at Dugan’s Currents exhibition at the Saint Louis Art Museum last fall.
Weaver interviewed on Yale University Radio
Artist Ian Weaver (MFA08) was interviewed by Brainard Carey for Yale University Radio. Weaver, an assistant professor at Saint Mary’s College in Indiana, is currently preparing for a solo exhibition at Fort Worth Contemporary Art this fall.
Hoppenot recognized with AIA Honor Award
La Référence de Ganthier, a primary school in Haiti designed by Studio PHH Architecture—the firm of architecture alum Pierre-Henri Hoppenot (BA09/MArch12)—was recognized with a 2022 Architecture Honor Award from AIA New York. The site provides light-filled, naturally ventilated spaces for learning and play and is organized around a central courtyard to build community.
Downen discusses solo show at Bruno David Gallery
Artist Jill Downen (MFA01), a recipient of a 2022 Sam Fox School Award for Distinction, gave an artist talk about their solo show Speak Truth, which is on view now at St. Louis’ Bruno David Gallery. Downen is also a 2018 recipient of the School’s Stone & DeGuire Contemporary Art Award, which provides alumni with a $25,000 award to advance their studio practice.
