Curator Meredith Malone discusses The Outwin: American Portraiture Today with HEC-TV
Garments in the Gallery exhibition October 30
Designs by 48 fashion design students will be shown at the Garments in the Gallery show on Saturday, October 30 from 1-2p in Umrath Lounge. The pop-up event is a part of this week’s WashU Parent & Family Weekend.
Chavez Named Artist2Artist Fellow
Lecturer Juan William Chávez has been named a 2021 Artist2Artist fellow. Presented by the Art Matters Foundation New York, their new regranting program provides funding for artists to act as grant-makers. Chávez intends to use the grant to develop an interdisciplinary curriculum, accessible to the public, that promotes native bees and environmental stewardship. He has designated St. Louis artist Dail Chambers as a peer fellow through the program.
HEC-TV Spotlights *The Outwin*
Meredith Malone discusses The Outwin: American Portraiture Today on HEC-TV. The exhibition, organized by the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery will be on view through January 23 at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum. Out of 26,000 entires, these 46 works on view are the finalists in the triennial Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition.

Warren Ashworth (BA78 in Architecture) and Susan Kander are co-authors of the new historical novel We, the House, available from Blue Cedar Press.
Berry to Present at Leadership Perspectives
Megan Berry (MArch15/MBA15) will be speaking at Leadership Perspectives: How Cross-functional Transformation is Changing Entrepreneurship and Business, a virtual event from 12-1p CDT on October 26. Berry is the founder and CEO of by REVEAL: a turnkey pop-up retail platform that provides brands, developers and technology companies a full-service solution to test markets, build awareness, generate sales, and capture consumer data with live retail experiences.
Hanahan to Speak at Texas State Galleries
On October 26 at 4 PM CST, Texas State Galleries will host a conversation between associate professor Jonathan Hanahan and artist Holly Veselka, moderated by Texas State University faculty members MiHyun Kim and Barry Stone. The discussion is presented in conjunction with Hanahan’s solo show Edgelands, on view in the Texas State Galleries’ FLEX space

Alumni Featured in Shows at Monaco
Prairie Land opens with a reception on Friday, October 29 from 6-9p at Monaco gallery. Curated by Janie Stamm (MFA-VA19), the exhibition features five artists, including Jen Everett (MFA-VA19).
Monument Valley also opens at Monaco, featuring new collaborative works by Edo Rosenblith (MVA-VA17) and Erik S. Peterson.
