Garza's Solo Show in Art in America
Autobiography of a Brown Buffalo II, a solo exhibition by José Guadalupe Garza (MFA-VA13, academic programs coordinator for the Kemper Art Museum), received a superb review in Art in America. The show debuted at the High/Low gallery in St. Louis and is now on view at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) gallery through October 14, with an opening reception from 5:30-8p CDT September 30.
Mumford's Book Review in Architectural REcrod
Eric P. Mumford‘s book review of the fifth edition of Kenneth Frampton’s Modern Architecture: A Critical History is featured in the September edition of Architectural Record. Mumford is the Rebecca and John Voyles Professor of Architecture in the Sam Fox School. Frampton will be on campus to deliver the Eugene J. Mackey Jr. Lecture on October 21 and participate in an October 22 panel discussion on Mumford’s book, Designing the Modern City: Urbanism Since 1850.
Patterhn Ives in A South Forty Exhibition
Patterhn Ives is featured in A South Forty: Contemporary Architecture and Design in the American South, an exhibition that coincides with the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennale. Partners Anna Ives (visiting assistant professor), Eric Hoffman (MArch05), and Tony Patterson (MArch06) founded the full-service architecture practice in 2014. The exhibition is on view through November 21.
Chaudhary Named Writing Prize Finalist
Kaden Chaudhary (BS24) has been selected as a finalist for the eighth annual McLeod First-Year Writing Prize, for the essay “WashU Undergraduate Admissions: Portrayal of and Catering to Economic Diversity.” Chaudhary will be recognized at The CWP Presents: WashU Writing Showcase at 5:30p CDT September 29.
