Jawadwala (MArch 21) Wins Mendel Sato Research Award
Huzefa Jawadwala (MArch 21) is one of two inaugural winners of WashU Libraries’ Mendel Sato Research Award, which recognizes essays that explore unique primary source material and documents from the Julian Edison Department of Special Collections. Jawadwala received the award for his project St. Louis Ethical Society Building: Modern Forms | Harris Armstrong | Faith & Congregation for senior lecturer Bob Moore’s class, Landscapes Through Time.
St. Louis Magazine Profiles Solo Exhibition by Garza
St. Louis Magazine profiles Autobiography of a Brown Buffalo II, a solo exhibition by José Guadalupe Garza (MFA-VA13). “For the last couple of years, I’ve been trying to untangle what it means to be a Latinx person in contemporary America and how I can use the platform of art to amplify other voices,” said Garza, whose work examines politics, race, mass media, and capitalism. The show is on view at the High Low gallery through August 28.
TAO + LEE a Finalist for SLC3 Award
TAO + LEE, led by principals Peter Tao (BA79) and Helen Lee, is a finalist for an award from the St. Louis Council of Construction Consumers. Winners will be announced at the Best Practices and Diversity Awards Gala August 18.

Remembering Danielle Taylor Leventhal
Alumna Danielle Taylor Leventhal passed away on August 4, 2021, at the age of 27, after four years of outliving terminal cancer. Leventhal earned a BFA from the Sam Fox School in 2016, double majoring in painting and art history, and served as a grand marshal for the School at Commencement. A gifted artist, she was the recipient of the Jeffrey Frank Wacks Scholarship, the Mary Cowan Harford Award in Watercolor, and the Scholastic National Silver Medal for Painting.
