Professor Patty Heyda’s essay, “A Starbucks in Ferguson,” has been published in the “Cities, Up Close” collection of the November 2026 issue of Current History. The issue assembles twenty international urbanists, architects, planners, designers, ecologists, artists, theorists, writers, and social scientists whose work is inventing new paradigms, pushing disciplinary boundaries and reimagining possible urban futures in face of the profound social, political, ecological, and spatial challenges cities are confronting right now. Heyda’s essay is featured alongside an interdisciplinary mix of urban thinkers, designers, and scholars.
