Niche ranks WashU among top U.S. programs for art, architecture, and design

Niche published its annual college rankings last month, placing WashU and several of the undergraduate programs among the top in the country.

Undergraduate programs in the Sam Fox School ranked:

The rankings, now in their 15th year, evaluated more than 4,000 U.S. colleges and universities. The organization’s methodology is refined each year to measure institutions across academics, value, student life, career preparation, and more.

Niche shared that its 2027 rankings had some of the most significant changes in methodology in years, with new scores for student wellness and future readiness, along with an institutional success score that aims to align a school’s ranking within its mission-based category, such as a research institution, social mobility-focused college, or religious institution. The independent site draws its data from a variety of vetted sources, including student-submitted surveys, alumni reviews, and data from the U.S. Department of Education, National Science Foundation, and more. From there, Niche carefully evaluates the data, weights each factor, and calculates the final score.

The Sam Fox School’s undergraduate programs include architecture, studio art, communication design, and fashion design, along with several minors ranging from creative practice for social change to human-computer interaction. Students enjoy dedicated studio space and access to the school’s myriad shops and making spaces, allowing them to work at any scale, from the object to the city.
