WashU Inklings
The Mythmakers devotes an entire chapter to The Inklings, a group of friends and academic peers of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. The meetings were indispensable to both men in publishing their seminal works.
Hendrix has found similar support at The Carver Project, an organization of Christian faculty of WashU. Among them are John Inazu, the Sally D. Danforth Distinguished Professor of Law & Religion in the School of Law; and Abram Van Engen, the Stanley Elkin Professor in the Humanities and chair of the Department of English in Arts & Sciences, to whom The Mythmakers is dedicated. “My very own Inklings,” Hendrix writes.
At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, Hendrix, Inazu and Van Engen will appear together in a program titled “Collaboration and Community at The Carver Project” at The Church of St. Michael & St. George, 6345 Wydown Blvd. The trio will reflect on how their recent works were borne out of shared mission and friendship.
