Alum Kathy Aoki receives Creative Capital Award

Kathy Aoki, MFA ‘94, received a $50,000 Creative Capital Award earlier this year for her project, “Koons Ruins Atlas,” which documents an imagined vendetta against Jeff Koons’ work by an art collector bent on acquiring and destroying it on her property. When she passes away, her estate is opened to the public as “Koons Ruins.”

“Koons Ruins Atlas” includes large, immersive scenes of the estate and an interactive map featuring Risograph animations. Aoki was among 49 projects selected from over 5,000 applications.
