Photographs from Professor Emeritus Stan Strembicki’s portfolio, “Memory Loss,” are featured in the new Spike Lee documentary, “Katrina: Come Hell and High Water,” available on Netflix Aug. 27. Strembicki — who began photographing New Orleans in the 1980s — photographed the aftermath of the 2005 hurricane, focusing particularly on waterlogged family photo albums found throughout the Lower Ninth Ward, along with decaying churches, libraries, and schools.
Strembicki’s new project, “Art History Revisited,” merges photographs of living St. Louisans with historical artworks. The series will be on view at the Bruno David Gallery beginning Sept. 13.
