Two new faculty members will join the Sam Fox School as assistant professors for the 2025-26 academic year: Rayshad Dorsey in architecture and Luiz Ludwig in interaction design.
“We look forward to welcoming Rayshad and Luiz to the Sam Fox School community this fall,” said Carmon Colangelo, the Ralph J. Nagel Dean. “Each brings a distinct perspective, an innovative practice, and a refined design sensibility that I’m confident will spark creative outcomes and meaningful dialogue with our students.”
Rayshad Dorsey is the founding partner of Studio Rayshad Dorsey and co-founding director of the design collective Partners of Place. His work explores how architecture can surface collective memory and cultural narratives, positioning spatial design as a lens for responsive and community-centered futures. He most recently served as a lecturer at Clemson University and contributed to projects as a designer at Patterhn Ives of St. Louis, as well as Atelier Cory Henry and Höweler + Yoon. Dorsey is currently the ACSA Faculty Fellow to Advance Equity in Architecture and has participated in a variety of lectures and reviews at WashU, most recently at the April 2025 Material World for Modern Segregation Symposium. He holds a Master of Architecture with Distinction from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Clemson University.
Luiz Ludwig brings a background of industrial design and visual communication to the school. His work looks at the intersection of data, design, and art through interactive data installations, graphic design, and artistic visualizations. Ludwig has participated in several exhibitions as an artist and co-curator — including twice at Oi Futuro’s Art and Technology Institute in his native Brazil, published two books, and has most recently served as adjunct faculty at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial design. Ludwig holds a Master of Fine Arts in graphic design from the Maryland Institute College of Art and is completing his doctorate in visual art at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
