Shelby Roach

Shelby Roach earned her undergraduate degree in architecture (cum laude), with a minor in urban design at WashU. With a background in art school, where experimentation and collaboration were critical in her design process, continuing at WashU felt like a natural step. Growing up in Miami surrounded by diverse cultures sparked her curiosity about how migration and resilience shape neighborhoods — a theme that continues to drive her research and design work today. At WashU, she has explored future scenarios for St. Louis neighborhoods and designed urban interventions that activate underutilized spaces, to design with communities rather than just for them.

Shelby is a Sam Fox Ambassador.
