Allison Méndez

Allison Méndez is an associate vice president and project designer in CannonDesign’s St. Louis office, where she leads the design for a range of project types, from pre-design to construction administration. A registered architect in the state of Missouri, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Design from Arizona State University and her Master of Architecture from Washington University, where she has since returned to teach courses in architecture. Her projects and drawings have been consistently recognized with honors and awards, and they have also been featured in several publications, including ArchDaily.

Her work is marked by rich texture and thoughtful utility. She is outspoken in her belief that everyone—especially populations typically underserved by high-end design—is entitled to quality architecture. With unwavering dedication to social equity and beauty in every corner of the built environment, Méndez epitomizes the best qualities of today’s emerging professionals.

Positioning herself among the next generation of leaders, Méndez is deeply committed to improving the profession and her community, and her impact has been felt on the local, regional, and national levels. She serves on CannonDesign’s NEXT Council and on the AIA National Associates Committee as the Central States Regional Director, where she is a champion for change. In recognition of her accomplishments in the profession, she was named one of St. Louis’ 30 under 30 by the St. Louis Business Journal in 2017. In 2019, she was named a recipient of the AIA Young Architects Award.
