Jim Scott



Jim Scott is a lawyer, mediator, and wildlife photographer.  He has served in leadership roles with global providers of engineering, architecture, and construction, including CRB, Jacobs, and Sverdrup. He has extensive experience with all facets of project delivery, corporate governance, enterprise risk management, and complex construction disputes. His work includes the acquisition of a 3,500-person design firm in Scotland, projects in the E.U., disputes in India, and business operations and projects in China. 

He has taught at Washington University in St. Louis since 1985, where he shares with students a passion for design and the inevitable legal, risk, and business challenges posed by the profession.  

He is a fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers and the former Chair of the ABA Forum on Construction Law.  

Scott holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri–St. Louis and a Juris Doctor from the Saint Louis University School of Law.
