Inhabitation Quartet: Four Experiments in Design Curation is a pop-up exhibition of student projects developed for the Sam Fox School’s new course, Curatorial Practices in Architecture. The show features four micro-exhibitions by Flora Chen, Angela Lai, Zhenyu Li, Xin Liu, Ray McIntyre, Mariana Melin-Corcoran, Amani Shammaa, Yixin Song, Andrej Velickovski, Mengxi Xin, and Haoxuan Yan.
The projects in Inhabitation Quartet both engage and resist conventional museological models of exhibition-making, approaching curatorial practice as an aspect of design practice, exploring the ways the encounter with curation can produce expanded approaches to architecture (and vice versa).
These four projects also resist the formalist tendencies that so often characterize architectural exhibition-making, turning away from the austere representation of buildings as architecture’s ostensible central object to explore textured social questions of how the human inhabits designed worlds.
Inhabitation Quartet: Four Experiments in Design Curation will be on view for three days, from 9a Wednesday, November 10 until 7p Thursday, November 11. All are invited to attend the reception from 5:30-7p on Thursday, November 11.
