Fox Fridays: Human Rights Centered Design
The Human Rights Centered Design curriculum is an open source curriculum, educational space, and resource that any one can use to improve and center intersectionality, consent, transparency and privacy into their design practice. It was created by Caroline Sinders and Natalie Cadranel. Natalie and Caroline have spent nearly the past decade working in human rights, digital rights, and information design. We have noticed a need in terms of literature, guidance, and support for both human rights defenders and designers in terms of understanding how to use design to make safe applications, research and software, and how to insert privacy, security, and digital rights into a basic design process. Students will ideate and design technology mediated products with these concepts and principles in mind and examine the use of UX and design tools in activism. This workshop will help students explore the ways we can design with (rather than for) the communities we serve.
