Fox Fridays: Model Making with Polymer Clay
In this workshop, students will learn the basics of model making with polymer clay, an oven-hardening clay based on polymer polyvinyl chloride (PVC), as well as the possibilities and limits of adding non-traditional material to studio practice. Students will also gain an introduction to different types of polymer clay, techniques, and methods to utilize the model for a large-scale sculpture. This workshop is aimed at all students in Sam Fox school.
Takeaways: Students will produce models based on the techniques they learn through the workshop. Also, students will learn the unique materiality of different types of polymer clay through hands-on experience to find the most suitable kind for their needs.
Cross-disciplinary Connections: Students will gain exposure to techniques and processes that can be used across sculpture, clay, and installation.
