Becoming the Change with Snuggle up for Literacy
Join us for an empowering program exploring literacy and civic engagement. Through a combination of storytelling, visual interpretation, and hands-on activities, audiences of all ages are invited to explore literacy as a way to find their voice, share stories, and connect. The program will also consider how literacy informs creative avenues for inspiring change—from artworks and the stories of artists represented in the Museum, to each participant’s unique skill sets and approaches to being in the world.
Program Schedule:
10–10:35 am: Storytime in the Kemper Art Museum Lobby with Snuggle Up for Literacy
10:40–11:40 am: Facilitated gallery exploration and hands-on activities focused on how to become the change you’d like to see in the world. Various break-out sessions will be offered designed for specific audiences, including teenagers, adults, and families and intergenerational groups.
11:40 am–noon: Closing remarks
Snuggle Up for Literacy is a signature initiative of the Be the Change Foundation that brings literacy to life through storytelling, creativity, and community connection. Designed for all ages, the program goes beyond simply reading books by encouraging participants to discover their voices, share their stories, explore their creativity, and see literacy as a powerful tool for confidence, connection, and change. At its heart, Snuggle Up for Literacy reminds us that every story matters, every voice has power, and literacy can inspire us to be the change we wish to see.
