The Time Based + Media Art is proud to announce the opening of a solo presentation featuring the 2026 Media Artist in Residence (MAR), Jasmine Brown, MFA ’27.
About the Media Artist in Residency
The Time Based + Media Art area annual MAR residency offers one selected graduate student pursuing an MFA in Visual Art degree a full access to Media Studio during spring break. Over a period of seven to ten days, the selected artist creates a digital time-based project that may include a performance component. The residency also includes a public installation of the project, scheduled during one weekend in April. MAR residents are selected by Time Based + Media Art faculty. About the Artist
Jasmine Brown is an interdisciplinary artist from Virginia based in St. Louis, MO. Her work plays with systems of failure expressed through yearnings for belonging using digitally distorted films and whimsical, woolly installations. She likes to surrender control as a means to lower the audience’s guard and actualizes her fantastical dreams by world-building– altering the scale of everyday objects using her body for measure. Jasmine holds a BA from the University of Virginia and is currently pursuing an MFA at Washington University in St. Louis. She will attend the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in the summer. Her newest moving image and sound work Oh, for my foolishness, [rain] strike me down, now! was produced during MAR residency.
