Introduction to TouchDesigner
Blacksmithing may be an ancient craft, but it’s just as exciting and rewarding today as ever. In this hands-on class, students will learn the fundamentals of blacksmithing by creating their own hand-forged hook(s). Through this simple yet classic project, participants will develop essential skills such as tapering, forming, and punching steel. Along the way, we’ll cover key topics like how to light the forge, proper anvil height, and the correct technique for swinging a blacksmith’s hammer. This class is a great introduction to the art of shaping hot metal. Students will forge wall-mounted hooks, with the freedom to design them as traditional or as creative as they like.
Instructor: Christian is the Instructional Technicians in Givens Woodshop at Sam Fox. Christian has extensive woodworking experience, having led courses at both the Craft Alliance and MADE Makerspace.
