Introduction to TouchDesigner
Explore the theory and practice of biomaterials in this immersive workshop that emphasizes their potential within the creative economy. Using agar, a versatile and sustainable material derived from seaweed, participants will engage in hands-on experimentation, material development, and personalized exploration. You’ll have the chance to experiment with various open-source recipes, adapt them, or even create new ones—discovering firsthand how subtle differences in technique can impact the outcomes. By the end of the session, you’ll gain the knowledge and confidence to recreate the materials you develop during the workshop. These skills can be applied to a wide range of projects, architectural prototypes, and sculptural forms to sewable fabric and beyond. This workshop is an opportunity to integrate sustainable materials into your practice. Students will take away a “tray” worth of material experiments and knowledge of how to make the material themselves - walking away with the understanding of how the material is being used in the broader research of bio materials.
