Fox Friday: Intro to Wood Bowl Turning
This workshop will cover all the skills necessary to turn your first wooden bowl! Students will learn the basics of different woodturning chisels, techniques for turning safely and efficiently, how to prepare bowl blanks for turning, and how to refine and finish the bowl. Students will get hands-on experience using the wood lathe and collaboratively work to produce bowls from start to finish.
Instructor: Grant Kaplan is a third-year mechanical engineering student at WashU and originally from Columbia, Missouri. He has been practicing woodworking for over eight years with an emphasis on woodturning in his more recent projects.
