Miroslava Brooks and Daniel Markiewicz | Laskey Charrette Kickoff Lecture
Miroslava Brooks and Daniel Markiewicz will deliver the 2025 Laskey Charette Kickoff Lecture as part of the Sam Fox School’s Public Lecture Series at WashU.
FORMA is a full-service architecture firm led by Miroslava Brooks and Daniel Markiewicz. The practice was founded in New York in 2018, and expanded to Los Angeles and Philadelphia in 2023. FORMA’s work is defined by carefully considered form, thoughtful configuration of the architectural plan, typological exploration, and innovative programming.
Through residential projects – Homes – the firm reconsiders built forms of domesticity, from single-family houses to multi-generational living and multi-family housing. Through character-driven civic spaces – Commons – the work explores new forms of collectivity manifested within institutional, cultural, and educational projects. Often imbued with bold coloration and a dash of whimsey, FORMA’s projects evolve through a rigorous iterative process in order to establish a clear design intent. The firm’s recent work includes a ground-up house in Upstate New York, a proposal for an early education and community center in Stamford, CT, a multi-family gut renovation and addition in Brooklyn, NY, a competition entry for an 800-foot-long multi-purpose public space in Atlantic Beach, NC, and a number of ongoing renovations and additions in the Tri-State area.
