Julie Sayo Lecture
Julie Sayo is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design in the Department of Visual Arts at UMBC. Her research and studio work explore identity and the role of graphic design in decoloniality. Her work merges language, culture, and design, focusing on the study of Filipino writing systems, zine making, and type design.
She has presented her research at AIGA’s Design Educator Conference, the Southeastern College Art Conference (SECAC), and the University & College Designers Association’s (UCDA) Design Education Summit.
